QuickBooks shows the error message "QuickBooks has encountered a problem and needs to close" if the user attempts to access a file but the program cannot locate the requested file. In addition to the message, each of the 50 possible error codes—a string of 10 digits formatted as "5 digits space 5 digits"—is displayed beside the error. An essential application failure has occurred, as indicated by the QuickBooks unrecoverable error. When the business file is opened or the save, print, or ship icon is clicked, these problem codes will appear at the very top of the transaction. The 'critical application error' notice or the following error message may appear if an irrecoverable error has occurred.
